The Benefits of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

Happy Thursday squadies! Many people are aware of the benefits of exercise, but feel as though they do not have enough time in the day to fit in a full workout. Today’s blog post will discuss the benefits of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and why it is the best form of exercise for most people.

What is High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)?

HIIT is made up of short, intense bursts of exercise coupled with short periods of lower-intensity recovery.

HIIT workouts can vary anywhere from just 5 minutes to 30+ minutes in duration. Each workout is split up into intervals with different exercises. These intervals vary in length and intensity, and involve a certain work:rest ratio.

A simple example of a workout from one of my challenges may be 30 minutes in duration and may include intervals of 20 seconds ON, 10 seconds REST for 15 minutes. Then the intervals may switch to 40 seconds ON, 20 seconds REST for the remainder of the workout.

The goal is to keep the tempo and heart rate high within this short period of time to burn fat and build lean, toned muscle, while still giving yourself adequate rest to perform the workout!

This type of training is often performed with bodyweight exercises and/or weights, but can use any form of equipment.

1. It Is Efficient and Effective

Many people think that a workout needs to be 45 minutes to over an hour in length, which ultimately discourages them to workout due to a big time commitment. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth!

HIIT is the ideal workout because it can be done in just 30 minutes and you actually reap more benefits than if you were to do another form of exercise such as running, weight training and biking.

Studies have shown that you burn more calories in a HIIT workout than you do in other forms of exercise. You are burning more calories (and fat) AND in a shorter amount of time!

My challenges are specifically designed to burn as many calories as possible while still building as much lean muscle as possible! This is because we are maintaining a high tempo in combination with muscle-building exercises!

2. Your Metabolic Rate Remains High After You Workout

Another benefit of HIIT workouts is the after-burner state that your body goes into. HIIT workouts increase your metabolism, which means you will be able to burn more calories in the hours after your workout!

This type of training in combination with Intermittent Fasting can be life-changing for how you feel both physically and mentally!

3. You Build Resiliency

HIIT workouts provide variety unlike any other form of exercise. This means you will constantly be adapting and growing as a result!

Whatever is hard for you is lean for you! As you continue to push yourself, you are training your body to overcome different challenges. Over time you will notice that this ability will carry over into every other area of your life!

4. No Equipment Needed

Although HIIT workouts can be done with equipment, it is certainly not a requirement to get an effective workout! As a matter of fact, bodyweight HIIT workouts can be just as effective if not more!

With the right exercises, you will be able to keep the tempo high while burning fat and building lean, toned muscle!

My 7-Day Free Trial provides you with free exercises that achieve results! It requires no equipment and is designed so all you need to do is press play! Start your lean journey today and follow along with me as we transform together!
