What is Stamina?

Stamina is your ability, using strength and energy, to sustain physical or mental efforts for long periods of time. Whether that means enduring the physical stress during a workout or the mental focus required to perform at your job, having high levels of stamina enables you to be more efficient in all areas of your life.

Stamina can be closely associated with resilience and perseverance. These traits are powerful in forming healthy habits and sticking to them. As a result, improving your stamina will increase your quality of life and how you FEEL on a daily basis! Not only will you be able to stick to your habits, but you will feel better both physically and mentally!

Improve Your Stamina with These Tips

1. Exercise

Exercise requires a lot of stamina, which is why it is also one of the best ways to improve your stamina. When a workout starts getting difficult is when our stamina really kicks in. As we start to hit a wall, stamina goes to work and we push through the pain and discomfort. People with higher levels of stamina can endure this discomfort for longer periods of time.

Just like how we challenge our muscles so that they get stronger, we challenge our stamina so that it can improve. In order to do this, we need to ensure we are combining muscle building exercises AND keeping a high tempo through a variety of different movements.

This combination is the best way to challenge both our muscles and stamina, while also getting the best results! You will burn fat, improve your cardio, while also building lean, toned muscle. On top of that, your stamina will improve, which means you will perform better in your workouts and feel more energized overall!

2. Eat Healthy Foods and Stay Hydrated

Most of our energy comes from the food we eat. That being said, people who eat healthier foods tend to have higher levels of stamina because their bodies are fueled with the proper nutrients. A well-balanced diet consists of a wide variety of unprocessed foods in the right proportions. Fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and lean meats all provide the necessary vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to live a healthy lifestyle. Of course, treat yourself to a Whoopsie every once in a while!

Additionally, keeping your body hydrated with water is essential in feeling your best. Drinking enough water can keep your stamina high, help you lose weight, and much more. If you are dehydrated, your muscles will under-perform and you will have a lot less energy throughout the day. To ensure you are drinking enough water, keep a water bottle or glass of water with you all day long.

Optimize your stamina and health with a customized meal plan designed by myself and a nutritionist to get you feeling your best! Choose between, meat, veggie, and vegan options all on the LEANSQUAD App!! All you have to do is enjoy your personalized recipes and watch the leanness transform you!
3. Yoga, Stretching, and Focusing on the Breath

Routinely slowing down, stretching out your body and being mindful of your breath can greatly improve your stamina and ability to handle stress. Your body and mind will gradually begin learning how to deal with certain stressors and you will be able to focus on the things that really matter. As a result, you will be able to endure longer periods of focus and perform tasks effectively.

Your body will also thank you for stretching out your muscles. During these times, we are sitting more than ever and our muscles are getting tighter. Performing yoga and stretching will open up these muscles, which will improve your physical stamina and performance. Give this Active Recovery a go and start feeling better instantly!

Supplementing with ashwagandha is also an effective way to boost your energy levels. This is something I use to help reduce anxiety and stress levels. Click here to try the supplement I use!
