HEARTS OF PALM LOW CARB TURKEY BOLOGNESE!

Everybody LOVES pasta, but not all the carbs that usually come along with it! There are a TON of pasta alternatives on the market, most of them don’t have that signature pasta taste and texture that we know and love.
ENTER PALMINI PASTA
Palmini pasta, is made from hearts of palm. Hearts of palm is a plant which comes from the buds of palm trees and resembles white asparagus. Palmini pasta has taken hearts of palm and has created a leanlicious pasta out of it! Per serving, there is only 20 overall calories, 0g of fat AND only 2g of net carbs!
In order to make this pasta look and taste like the regular full carb pasta we enjoy, there is a special trick to take out some of the natural acidity in the pasta; soak it in OAT MILK! You can choose any oat milk of your choice, I chose to use almond milk. After straining, draining, and rinsing the noodles, let it soak in the oat milk anywhere between 30-60 minutes. I soak mine while preparing the rest of the turkey bolognese dish, which is approximately 30 minutes! The pasta is already cooked, so after the 30 minutes, all you have to do is drain the oat milk out, rinse them again, and add to a pan to heat up!
For the Bolognese sauce, there are a couple key things to keep in mind. First, when choosing your ground turkey, to keep this dish extra LEAN make sure you are buying the leanest ground turkey available to you! Second, when you are choosing a sauce, make sure to choose a natural sauce that contains NO ADDED SUGAR! Added sugar can add a TON of unneeded carbs into your dish!
Here’s how to make it:
1 can palmini pasta
1 cup oat milk of choice (or enough to fully emerge pasta in)
1 white onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, diced
extra lean ground turkey package (about 2 lbs)
Oregano (to taste)
Pinch of salt & pepper
2 ½ cups No added sugar marinara sauce
Parmesan (to taste)
