Home workout better than running!

Are you looking for an alternative to running that blasts fat and gives you that nice lean, toned look? There are SO many benefits of HIIT Cardio that will have you feeling your best in no time at all!
Although I do enjoy a sprintie session or guided run, my favorite (and most effective) type of training is HIIT! The best part about HIIT is that is it SUPER efficient and SUPER effective. I have linked a 10-minute workout below that will have your body burning and metabolism rev'd up in just 10 minutes! It will also keep things fresh with a variety of movements as I workout alongside you (literally) every step of the way.

Running is not the only way to stay lean! 

You don't ONLY have to run to achieve great results in body composition (i.e low body fat and strong, toned lean muscle). Too much running can actually have catabolic effects (i.e it can 'eat away' at precious muscle mass) if you overdo it and don't fit it into a program that includes some resistance training. Also, sometimes running isn't an option due to an injury, or it's just not for you... and that's OK! There are plenty of other forms of cardio that areas, if not more, effective!

1. HIIT training - up to 450 calories in 30 minutes

If you just smashed the workout above, then you know exactly what HIIT training is all about. High-Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT as it's often known, is a series of short bursts of exercise, followed by a rest period. As your heart rate continually increases and decreases throughout its duration, calorie burn is often SUPER high.

2. Jump rope - up to 375 calories per 30 minutes

Most of us haven't swung a jump rope since we were on the elementary school playground, but SKIPPING is actually a great way to boost coordination, balance, stamina, and circulation. What's most exciting is that skipping can also burn 30% MORE calories than running!! 

3. Stationary bicycling - up to 311 calories per 30 minutes

If you have access to a stationary bike, try intervals of high-intensity cycling (It's kinda like HIIT on a bike!!). As a vigorous cardio workout, stationary bicycling can burn a significant number of calories in 30 minutes.

You might not have been on a trampoline since you were a kid, but just ten minutes of bouncing can burn as much fat as 30 minutes of running. On average, men will burn 12.4 calories per minute jumping on a trampoline, and women will burn 9.4 calories!! If you do have a trampoline in your backyard, this can be a great activity to do with your children, to get everyone moving and working out together!
