Learn about the amazing benefits of Konjac

You may ask yourself, why should I substitute regular noodles for Konjac noodles? This LOW CARB noodle alternative is deliciously satisfying as it absorbs whatever sauce you are cooking it in and has fewer calories, which means you can keep coming back for more!!

What is Konjac?

The Konjac plant is native to Southeast Asia and used in traditional cuisine for centuries. The root of this plant contains a rich source of soluble dietary fiber, making it a perfect and healthier food substitute.
The Konjac noodles are made of a form of fiber known as glucomannan which comes from the plant in Konjac. Glucomannan is a soluble fiber which means it can trap water in your gut which helps slow down your digestion, helping you to stay full longer! The noodles also contain a lot of water. In fact, they are about 97% water and 3% glucomannan fiber (which is why I recommend thoroughly washing the noodles, draining the liquid, and patting them dry! Don't be put off by the smell when you open the package, it goes away once the noodles are cooked!!) which is a great alternative for individuals anyone wanting to lower their carb and sugar intake.

Health Benefits

Adding Konjac noodles into your diet has many LEANTASTIC health benefits, such as relieve digestive problems through its high fibre content. Helping to promote good digestive health allows more nutrients to be extracted from the food you eat, which, in turn, fuels your body better. A clean, well-running digestive system will give the body more energy throughout the day to support other activities and important functions.
Whether you're looking to make a traditional chicken noodle soup or try my delicious ginger chicken stirfry recipe, you can use Konjac noodles which are low in calories and have 0 net carbs. Vegan-friendly, these Konjac noodles add flavor and lots of fiber to any meal. Ready in minutes, you'll always want to reach for Konjac noodles for the perfect, lean option to make ANY dish that much more delicious! It is also gluten, soy, and dairy-free.

Cooking Konjac Noodles

When I first tried Konjac noodles, I followed the instructions on the packaging, which said to rinse them. Still, I have to admit it was not the most pleasant experience due to the smell, but that can easily go away through rinsing the noodles under cold water, moving them around a bit with your hand so that all the yucky water gets thoroughly rinsed off.
Transfer the noodles to a glass bowl. Add some acid to remove the unpleasant smell. I like to use lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, or white vinegar, which helps! I also recommend patting them dry removing all the excess water before adding them to your recipe!
